About this artwork
In this painting, I wanted to envelop this figure in an atmosphere of mystery, strength, and restrained elegance. The intense green of its head, almost like a turban of living energy, represents for me rebirth, hope, and that inner world which often remains silent, yet which speaks volumes.
The face, rendered in a bluish shadow, reinforces this feeling of introspection. I wanted to show a woman who inhabits her own universe, serene, profound, and… full of nuances. She doesn't need to assert herself with a direct gaze; her profile already conveys presence, dignity, and truth.
The large ochre circle in the background acts like a solar halo, a light that envelops it and gives it an almost sacred dimension. The gestural blacks, free and vibrant, bring tension, character, and movement, as if the work were breathing between calm and strength. As for the yellow lines on the neck, they suggest a kind of secret language.
