About this artwork
I wanted to capture the vibrant light and untamed energy of this place, the Sormiou cove, blending bold colors and semi-abstract forms. This oil painting expresses the raw power of nature and the intense emotion I feel before these cliffs and the deep Mediterranean Sea. Looking at it, you will feel the freshness of the sea air and the vibrancy of a landscape in perpetual motion in the heart of summer.

Françoise Lavenu, a painter and engraver, began her artistic training in childhood through museum visits and travel, later attending the Clermont-Ferrand School of Fine Arts, while simultaneously pursuing a career in both hospital work and the arts. She favors oil paints, occasionally acrylics, and practices figurative abstraction, primarily using palette knives, spatulas, and even her fingers, blending dynamic gestures with impasto inspired by Expressionism, Fauvism, and Impressionism.
