About this artwork
In this semi-abstract oil painting, I wanted to capture the vibrant essence of New York City at dawn. Touches of yellow bring a hopeful light, while blues and grays evoke depth and urban complexity. This artwork will bring a dynamic yet calming energy, a breath of contemporary life that will enliven your space with elegance and modernity.
Françoise Lavenu, a painter and engraver, began her artistic training in childhood through museum visits and travel, later attending the Clermont-Ferrand School of Fine Arts, while simultaneously pursuing a career in both hospital work and the arts. She favors oil paints, occasionally acrylics, and practices figurative abstraction, primarily using palette knives, spatulas, and even her fingers, blending dynamic gestures with impasto inspired by Expressionism, Fauvism, and Impressionism. In her landscapes, she intensely conveys the balance between strength and gentleness, seeking to reveal raw emotion and freedom of interpretation.
