About this artwork
The snowy landscape of the Parc des Sources in Vichy, created with knives, conveys an impression, the atmosphere of a winter morning after a snowfall all night.
I wanted to capture this peaceful moment in the snow, where silence and solitude reveal an almost magical beauty. The expressive, semi-abstract brushstrokes convey this still atmosphere, while the red silhouette brings a subtle yet vibrant life. This painting invites you to feel the cool… gentleness of winter and the hidden poetry in the simple scenes of everyday life.
Françoise Lavenu, a painter and engraver, began her artistic training in childhood through museum visits and travel, later attending the Clermont-Ferrand School of Fine Arts, while simultaneously pursuing a career in both hospital work and the arts. She favors oil paints, occasionally acrylics, and practices figurative abstraction, primarily using palette knives, spatulas, and even her fingers, blending dynamic gestures with impasto inspired by Expressionism, Fauvism, and Impressionism. In her landscapes, she intensely conveys the balance between strength and gentleness, seeking to reveal raw emotion and freedom of interpretation.
