About this artwork
From a very young age I’ve been deeply interested in many of the topics and issues of modern physics, from quantum mechanics to relativity (both general and special) to astrophysics (for instance, one of my other works, “Entangled”, is inspired by the notion of quantum entanglement, the intrinsic connection that may arise between two or more particles). This painting, the first in a planned series, is a poetic imagining of the dance of atoms and…
atomic particles under the influence of fundamental forces. Thematically it’s much like both “Entangled” and another of my works, “Overworld: Coalescent (Ex Elementis”, which also explores the notion of structures arising from fundamental building blocks of the universe.

Fred Phillips, also known as Parhelion, is a painter based in Barbados whose works highlight the act of creation itself as the ultimate message. He views life as vibrant, filled with riotous energy that is in constant motion, which he embodies in his works through the use of raw colors. For Phillips, a spontaneous demonstration of creativity is the very antithesis of despair. His abstract expressionist works are created using acrylics on canvas.
