About this artwork
This painting is part of a long series of pictorial and plastic experiments from the last ten years. They all have in common that they were born from my trust in the present, and in the power of chance which, each time, surprises and fascinates me. It makes forms shine which I then only have to "sculpt" to the limit of what is possible.
I like to create spaces that vibrate according to the mixtures, the material, the moment, the presence of the… brush or the cloth, or the choice of this or that paper which blends into the ink or the oil.
This entire period of research in Blue, Green, Black, Pink, Gray, Gold, or Violet, I called it WANDERINGS... NUANCES....
This painting was framed in October 2024: "Wandering...Shades... Blue... Black..."
Like all the paintings in this series, I don't know where I'm going... I wander with my inks and oils on Japanese paper, which I then mount onto canvas board... It's up to you to find out! Enjoy your journey through the nuances...
Frédéric André primarily explores ink, oil paint, and Japanese paper, the result of extensive self-taught research following formal training in visual arts. He blends the techniques of sculptors and painters with plays of color, shadow, and gesture, in a style that oscillates between abstraction and landscape, drawing inspiration from both classical Asian art and the great Western masters. His works evoke transparency and chance, inviting meditative wandering and transporting the viewer into a poetic universe of nuances and profound emotions.
