About this artwork
This work is part of a long series called ERRANCES...NUANCES...
It is the result of a whole series of experiments over the last 10 years....
Its title? Wandering... Nuances... Primus Tempus in violet... (Mixed media on canvas board)
I like to create vibrant spaces by mixing inks on Japanese paper, which I then mount onto canvas board. Then I tear it off... I glue and re-glue... and I tear it off again and repaint... I'm a kind of sculptor of chance,… working with nuances that remind me of the arrival of Primus... Tempus... Shades of green... pink, and in this painting: the presence of violet.
After that, it's up to you to search... Nudes... Coves... Plants... Hermits... Fishermen... Storms... Oceans... I don't know... Have a good journey into the nuances!
Frédéric André primarily explores ink, oil paint, and Japanese paper, the result of extensive self-taught research following formal training in visual arts. He blends the techniques of sculptors and painters with plays of color, shadow, and gesture, in a style that oscillates between abstraction and landscape, drawing inspiration from both classical Asian art and the great Western masters. His works evoke transparency and chance, inviting meditative wandering and transporting the viewer into a poetic universe of nuances and profound emotions.
