About this artwork
The painter's maternal family comes from a village near Husum (Schleswig-Holstein) from a peat-cutting farmer (1890-1964) where the painter often spent his holidays as a child. He grew up in Schleswig on the Schlei. His mother's rattling sewing machine and the reed belt on the Schlei, his favorite playgrounds, accompanied his childhood and left a lasting impression on him. exciting games in his childhood and youth. If his brother hadn't saved him, he would surely have drowned twice in the waters of the Schlei.
