Fragment of a dream
I paint from a question: what remains of the dream that formed us? In this work, I seek the trace of that childhood memory that returns with nostalgia and, at the same time, the adult dream that sometimes fades but never extinguishes. I work in layers: turquoise glazes support a golden core that emerges and cracks; I scratch with a spatula, leaving scars and transparencies so that the image can breathe as memory does. The magenta… and green accents burst forth like flashes of what was lived, small certainties within the unstable.
I'm interested in the painting functioning as an emotional palimpsest: nothing is completely lost, everything overlaps. That's why the composition oscillates between structure and drift; time isn't a line, it's a tide. The viewer doesn't contemplate an abstract landscape; they recognize themselves: each viewer fills in what's missing with their own memory and their own desire. What seemed lost is revealed as a forgotten dream that never ceased to inhabit us.
