About this artwork
In this work I have combined the raw textures of sand and cement with the gentle fluidity of acrylic and oil to create a minimalist-abstract composition that exudes strength and stillness. It is a reflection on the balance between nature and man-made structures, bringing calm and thoughtfulness to any space. It is intended to provide a calm anchor in today's fast-paced world.

Gabriele Middelmann, an award-winning painter and photographer, has exhibited her works in her native Germany, as well as in Belgium, the United States, Austria, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands. The themes in her pieces delve into concepts of time, space, surface, depth and the traces we leave behind. Photography is the genesis for Middelmann’s painterly art, which she transforms into paintings through diverse materials such as paper, stone, powder, pigments and acrylics.
