For the Block series of works, hundreds of discarded articles of clothing were packed between the pillars of the gallery or piled up on a table that was specially made and fitted there, and stuffed underneath it.
Packed tightly together and colorful, matte next to glossy fabrics, solid colors next to patterns, coarse next to fine textures, Block's garments… also represent our wasteful use of cheap clothing, often produced under questionable working conditions and ending up in the used clothing bin after only a few uses. In the installation of the same name, the interplay of model and representation is extended into reality: Numerous sensory qualities such as three-dimensionality, smell, fabric properties, and the like, which can only be reconstructed from photographs through experience, could be felt in the original garments.
