Here is my latest colorful painting done with Encaustic's.Encaustic, meaning “to burn in or fuse”, is an ancient painting medium first practiced by Greek artists as far back as the 5th century B.C. The oldest known pigment binder, encaustic combines molten beeswax with dry pigment and tree resin. Encaustic is impervious to moisture.
This painting "Spawning Ground" represents a artists creativity, and inspiration and the tools that you use to make… you more creative, and spontaneous. The fish swimming in a sea of color, represent ideas, and thought flow. I love the colors of how the wax, ink, and shellac have mixed to create a surrealist view of fish in a stream. This is a one of a kind original painting on a 11 X 14 Birch Wood panel, Mediums: Wax, Oil Paint, Oil Pastel, Shellac, Encaustic Gesso. Unframed.
