Painting, created from 2013 - 2021.
‘East wind always brings better weather’. A Dutch expression. It refers to hard times, but with the prospect of better ones. The image is complicated, floral and spicy. It is blowing, from the east.
Time is a factor in my work. This canvas was already finished in 2013. But the term ‘finished’ is very flexible to me. Because in 2015, I gave it a major revision and transformed it from a simple to a complex representation.… The nose got another revision in 2021. Like I could not have made it in 2015. There had to be a lot of flower paintings, fragmented reliefs and wild faces before that.
