About this artwork
In this work, I was inspired by the fusion of the traditional with the contemporary. The use of gouache, tempera, and ink allowed me to create a vibrant and texture-rich surface that engages viewers visually and emotionally. My father's interest in South American cultures was an early incentive for me to read in his library.
During my training I became interested in the Impressionists and Dutch painters. A subsequent graphic design course also expanded my skills in life drawing. A longer move to Santa Fe in New Mexico was a welcome change to soak up new inspiration. Three children's books and several book illustrations were created from this. After returning to Lake Waginger, I became interested in Japanese Zen Buddhism both through painting and intensive meditation. The founding of the joint KIWA Institute was followed by further training, which I completed in Malaysia with 2 master's degrees in Chinese astrology and classical Feng Shui. Since then I have been active in lectures, seminars and consultations as well as continuing to work as a painter in exhibitions.
