About this artwork
The image is Mt. Jungfrau abutting the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland, an absolutely beautiful area I've had the good fortune to explore several times. The sunsets catch the peaks bathing them in gold, and I manipulated the colors and proportions to amplify that sense of awe. For my digitally created work, I use many topographical maps, being fascinated by how we can abstractly comprehend that an image of a place and a map of a place represent…
the same thing. This work is a singular, unique archival print, not an edition.

« Art, like life, needs full engagement, pursued with adventurous vigor. No standing in one place. »
George Kozmon is an award-winning American artist whose paintings have been exhibited in the United States. He describes himself as having one foot in the Renaissance, and the other in experimental contemporary art. While the themes in Kozmon's compositions have evolved, the main consistency is the exploration of the passage of time, as it relates to the environment and the human condition. Both abstraction and representation are present in his artistic expression.
