About this artwork
"Equilibre" is a work belonging to a series of 17 paintings devoted to dance. Here, the ballerina is dressed in a classic way, with a tutu. The title of the painting comes from the position adopted by the dancer, who is both balanced on tiptoe with her arms outstretched, but who also seems to be holding two stone squares that have detached themselves in balance by a magnetic force. of his wrists.
The painting is produced in a mixed technique on… canvas and combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glossy lacquered glazes and squares in relief); it is a unique piece and it comes with a certificate of authenticity. It is signed both on the front (on the ankle of the ballerina) and on the back of the canvas, which is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 136 x 81 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' destroy borders and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. »
Georges Dumas's artistic approach is both simple and complex. While the aesthetic of his works, which he describes as "paintographies," is highly figurative, their composition is slow and complex, blending photography, digital art, and acrylic paint. Georges Dumas transforms the models he photographs into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent both the passage of time and the fragility of the body.
