About this artwork
A woman, who can be guessed on her knees, who tends her face towards another standing figure that she encloses with her two hands, in a gesture of prayer ... Two figures carved in a stone in the colors of rust and blue graffiti , decaying mineral and peeling paint, two characters united in an embrace that is both soft and strong, soothed and dramatic.
This painting is a hybrid work produced in mixed technique on canvas which combines photography,… digital composition and acrylic painting (lacquered glazes and raised squares). The squares, which seem to have been carved into the stone, appear in transparent acrylic relief on the surface of the canvas, creating a feeling of paradoxical trompe-l'oeil. This is a unique piece which is framed in black (total dimensions: approx. 126 x 96 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' destroy borders and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. »
Georges Dumas's artistic approach is both simple and complex. While the aesthetic of his works, which he describes as "paintographies," is highly figurative, their composition is slow and complex, blending photography, digital art, and acrylic paint. Georges Dumas transforms the models he photographs into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent both the passage of time and the fragility of the body.
