About this artwork
My painting is an exploration of organic form captured at an intimate, almost microscopic proximity, where the boundary between botanical representation and pure abstraction dissolves. Inspired by the sudden, turbulent awakening of early spring, this piece bypasses traditional still-life depiction to capture the raw kinetic energy of growth. The choice of oil as a medium is essential here. By fracturing the traditional forms of the daffodil into… sweeping arcs of primary yellow, deep cobalt, and titanium white, the composition creates a tense harmony between chaos and structure. The viewer is invited not just to observe a floral subject, but to experience the visceral, psychological sensation of nature renewing itself. The Spring Metaphor is the literal inspiration of the daffodil, but stripped of its traditional, fragile romanticism. It captures the violent transition of seasons—the cold, dark earth being ruptured by vibrant yellow and white growth.
« To me, painting is a heartbeat, love, perception, impetus, state, mood, and experience. At times spontaneous, but always created with an open soul. That's why I call my artworks, 'inner landscapes'. »
Georgi Petrov is a Bulgarian artist whose paintings have been widely exhibited nationally, as well as in Poland, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, France, and the United States. The central themes portrayed in his art as also his biggest inspirations, nature and music. Horizons are a repeated subject in Petrov's compositions, which he describes as "deep and emotional", born of the planes of Dobrudzha, his birthplace. His works invite viewers to "look from within".
