About this artwork
My latest creation is an homage to Bacchus, inspired by Caravaggio's timeless masterpiece. In my rendition, the classical deity is adorned with a distinctive touch of my present home in Mauritius.
The most striking alteration lies in the crown that graces Bacchus' head. Instead of the traditional grape leaves, I've chosen three vibrant and colorful hibiscus flowers. These tropical blossoms not only introduce a sense of place but also symbolize the… beauty and vibrancy of the island I currently call home.
The background, awash in radiant gold leaf, carries an additional layer of symbolism. Through the golden surface, intricate sacred geometry patterns emerge, creating a sense of depth and mystique. This intricate backdrop serves as a visual representation of the complexity of existence, adding a layer of intrigue to the composition.
