About this artwork
My growing son gave me the name Perlmutt as a nickname, in reference to the pearl in the oyster.
It was the last name he gave me before he moved out at the age of 20.
For better understanding:
Mother-of-pearl is the shimmering, iridescent inner layer of seashells, which consists of tiny crystals and proteins and, due to its special structure, refracts light into all the colors of the rainbow.
It is a popular material for jewelry, inlays and… handicrafts because it is easy to work with.
and has its characteristic luster, which also gives real pearls their value.
