About this artwork
I painted this on a grey and rainy day, when the garden was drenched and the colors glowed with a rare intensity. The deep reds, pinks, and oranges felt almost electric against the cool, wet greens—it was glorious to witness and to capture in paint. The grey frame of the window anchors the composition, setting off the saturated hues and bringing that vibrant garden energy into the room.
Working with rich, pigment-loaded oils on archival canvas,… I leaned on the structure of drawing to hold the exuberance of brush and color in balance. For me, this piece preserves the fleeting beauty of rain-soaked light, transforming an ordinary view into something radiant and enduring.
