About this artwork

In Gregg Chadwick's painting "Santa Monica Nocturne", the last rays of the setting sun cast an orange glow across the sky. A woman walks toward the illuminated Santa Monica Pier. You can almost hear the crashing surf and in the distance the muffled laughter of pleasure lovers on the pier. Flashing lights and spinning wheels bring back memories of warm summer days and cool nights in California.

Gregg Chadwick is a contemporary American painter who lives and works in Santa Monica. He studied Fine Art at UCLA followed by a master’s degree at NYU, and has been painting ever since. A man of passion, art and engaged purpose, he is currently focused on exploring notions of time, place and memory.
