Swiss painter Hans Bertschi turned to painting full-time at age 59 after careers in the military and in finance. Inspired by the style and technique of romantic-era masters such as Gericault, Delacroix, and Stubbs, Bertschi applies thin layers of diluted acrylic paint before adding a final varnish. Bertschi's luminous works feature humans and horses with an emphasis on composition and atmosphere.
