About this artwork
“Dive Deep” (2026) draait om de energie en kracht die in de zee is gevangen. Als duiker ervaar ik tijdens mijn duiken telkens weer hoe klein de mens is. Onder het oppervlakte openbaart een enorm grote wereld waarin tijd vertraagt en alles wordt gerelativeerd. In dit werk vertaal ik de energie en kracht van het water en ijs in lagen van verf en beweging.
Het kunstwerk gaat voor mij over de oerkracht en voortdurende tijd die ik in de zee ervaar; de… zee verandert voordurend, maar verdwijnt nooit. Over duizenden jaren zal zij er nog steeds zijn. De zee relativeert alles; menselijke tijd en zorgen lossen op in een wereld die miljoenen jaar oud is en nog veel ouder zal worden.
Dit werk gaat over de oerkracht van natuur en over het besef dat zij ons ver overstijgt. Het besef dat wij hier tijdelijk zijn is een heerlijke uitnodiging om vanuit het goede alles te halen en vooral te brengen uit het leven dat je nu leeft. Uren die je nu uitgeeft komen niet terug, maak die waardevol.
