About this artwork
Skyfall is a serene yet charged addition to Harmeet Singh’s ongoing exploration of natural force and material tension. Built on a generous 39×39 in square canvas, the piece creates a compelling visual dialogue between a fluid, atmospheric turquoise expanse and a dense, crystalline field of fractured white and charcoal. A crisp horizontal seam divides the composition, giving the painting a calm, meditative balance with underlying energy.
The Texture…
The real magic of this painting is its incredible physical depth. As shown in the macro details, the surface is heavily layered, troweled, and scored. Underneath the aqueous teals, you catch sudden flashes of acid yellow and deep black, while the lower field reveals flecks of turquoise embedded in the white. The painting constantly shifts and changes depending on the light in the room.
Harmeet Singh is an abstract artist based in New Chandigarh, India.
Working primarily in large-format acrylics, Harmeet Singh builds his paintings through repeated mark-making, layering, scraping, and reworking. Inspired by the idea of fault lines, his work explores how structure emerges, shifts, and occasionally breaks apart.
Each painting develops gradually rather than from a fixed plan. Layers are added, buried, cut through, and revealed again. Knife movements leave traces across the surface, creating lines, scars, and interruptions that remain visible within the finished work. These accumulated marks record the painting's evolution, allowing earlier decisions and hidden layers to remain part of the final image.
