About this artwork
The Everyday Blackness series is a meditation upon the everyday life of Black Americans such as myself.
Athletes, influencers, politicians, entertainers, and other high profile Black Americans are the common subject when Black life is discussed, yet the are a small sliver of Black America.
Recently, I saw an interview with the famous actor Samuel Jackson and he said "I'm a star because you see me as a star. I just seem myself as a guy with an interesting… job."
There is beauty in the Black ordinary.
That is what this series is about.
« My art is my personal weapon in the battle against all forms of oppression in the world. »
