"Schein-Heilig" ist ein hochsymbolisches, bewusst provokantes Werk mit starker visueller Anlehnung an klassische Mariendarstellungen der Renaissance. Doch die stilisierte, fast maschinenhafte Flächenbehandlung, die linear geschlitzten Konturen und das mystisch-lichtumflutete Objekt in der Mitte konterkarieren die Tradition.
Die Mutterfigur wirkt distanziert, beinahe entrückt. Der Blick geht nicht auf das Kind, sondern ins Leere. Die Heiligkeit ist… durch eine runde, leuchtende Form ersetzt, die eher an eine energetische Sphäre als an eine christliche Ikone erinnert. Die äußerst geometrisch gerahmte Umgebung wirkt künstlich und erinnert an expressionistische Tafelbilder oder moderne Ikonoklastik.
