About this artwork
I painted each wood cube with acrylic paint in random colors. Some of them have mirrors, my favorite thing, and then cubes are carefully placed and glued on the wood board. Back is painted white to look invisible and bring out each color that I mixed to create dozens of shades.
Looks sculptural as the light casts shadows in the spaces and the mirrors reflect, so the piece is always changing. Adds a charge of color to any space and looks chic in… any decor!

Hayat Gul is an accomplished Kashmiri, Karachi-born painter and draftswoman who is currently based in the US. Motivated to illuminate neglected histories, she investigates ideas of evolution, disintegration and reconstruction through fragmented lines that reveal the unseen or forgotten. Her works appear bold, structured and curiously textured, ultimately demanding that each viewer dive deeper into her reconstructed realities.
