The image was commissioned for an exhibition celebrating the life and work of Angela Carter - the feminist writer.
"Strange Worlds - The Vision of Angela Carter".
It shows 2 girls lying on a "magical" bed .The particular "lesson" of the painting is open to interpretation by the viewer. It has relevance in my own life as it depicts my best friend and I lying on my friend's double bed (quite unusual for a small girl to have). We "practiced" being a… woman - playing around with roles we perceived would be ours when we grew up.

Born in 1965, Heather Nevay is a Scottish artist who currently resides in Glasgow. She studied at Glasgow School of Art, graduating with honours in Art and Design. Nevay creates figurative works that use symbolism to explore the themes of childhood and innocence.
