About this artwork
Ernst used just about every shade of blue that Grumbacher offers on "Wag More", pthalo blue, ultramarine blue, process cyan blue, cobalt blue, and cerulean blue. This is subtle. These are blended in the glazed background, and some form the wild, overlaying shapes.
Even if Ernst intends to paint an emotion like peacefulness, calm or mellow, what almost always evolves are emotions of joy, fun, exuberance or playfulness. The vivid, contrasting pigments… are pulled off her shelf and glide off her brushes. Metallic gold and silver will catch your attention when you walk past "Wag More."
Heather wonders how could she be so lucky that her subconscious takes over when she paints, launching her towards just about every positive emotion a person can have. Painting makes her Wag More and Bark Less.
« If any brushstroke or scrape of the palette knife awakens the emotional part of your mind, the place where you visualize no tangible object you’ve ever known, that is enough. »
