About this artwork

Crystal Blue Ascension is a tall light-filled abstract that celebrates the sparkling cool brilliance of a clear summer sky or a precious blue gem. Its organic compostion is created using a unique patina technique which uses layers of fluid paint which are partially dried and then eventually washed away. This method creates an appearance of a natural phenomenon - like sparkles of a crystal, glistening of water or an infinite cool blue sky. Delicate… flecks of tourquoise, teal, cobalt and blue rise naturally over a light warm background creating a sense of space. The vertical composition evokes uplifting and inspiring energy. The randomness of the composition is mysterious - one doesn't really know what it is, but simply feels peaceful and refreshing. The surface of the painting is lightly textured using silica glass and gesso. The edges are left painted showing drips of color which reveal the creative process. The painting is signed on the back and is ready to hang.

Heidi Thompson is an experienced Canadian painter who has exhibited her work in the US, Canada and Switzerland. She originally started out as a figurative painter striving to express the human condition, but soon decided to move away from the darkness and suffering she found herself portraying to a colorful abstract style full of hope, light and beauty. Today, she creates a bold and colorful 'Multicolours' series, as well as minimalist works that reflect the style of 'Monochrome Energy Fields.'
