About this artwork
Passionate Ascension is a tall, striking composition expressing the drama of a warm summer's day with warm light and golden colors. The work is bursting with energy and life. Although it is entirely abstract it resembles a natural phenomenon like a sunset or fire. The surface is textured with silica sand and gesso and the edges are left painted revealing the creative process. The technique uses fluid paint layers, drying in between, then washing…

Heidi Thompson is an experienced Canadian painter who has exhibited her work in the US, Canada and Switzerland. She originally started out as a figurative painter striving to express the human condition, but soon decided to move away from the darkness and suffering she found herself portraying to a colorful abstract style full of hope, light and beauty. Today, she creates a bold and colorful 'Multicolours' series, as well as minimalist works that reflect the style of 'Monochrome Energy Fields.'
