About this artwork
Summer Inspiration is a tall, striking composition expressing the beauty and sunshine of a summer day. The work glows with energy and life. Warm organic veils of orange, red, yellow, and gold rise up over a background of light blues and greens. Although the image is entirely abstract it resembles a natural phenomenon like a sunrise. The surface is textured with silica sand and gesso which adds a sensual tactility and the edges are left painted… revealing the artist's creative process. The technique uses fluid paint layers, drying in between, then washing away the entire piece. What remains resembles a natural light-filled patina The painting is signed on the back and is ready for hanging.
« I strive to create something of beauty and light; something that gives the viewer hope; something that expresses both the oneness of life and the ever transforming elements of life. »
Heidi Thompson is an experienced Canadian painter who has exhibited her work in the US, Canada and Switzerland. She originally started out as a figurative painter striving to express the human condition, but soon decided to move away from the darkness and suffering she found herself portraying to a colorful abstract style full of hope, light and beauty. Today, she creates a bold and colorful 'Multicolours' series, as well as minimalist works that reflect the style of 'Monochrome Energy Fields.'
