About this artwork
Paper Size – 15” x 20”
Image Size – 14” x 19”
I paint with acrylics on 140 lb. cold-press water color paper; using the process of layering the paint and scratching back to reveal unique colors and textures in my paintings.
I wanted to do a new portrait of our kitty Tuxie as a way of honoring him as he is older now and slowed down. I took my time sketching him, trying to get his look just right. He has always been lean but now his fur looks a bit… scraggly which I think gives him character. He loves going outside and exploring the yard so I decided to put him in a garden scene. When Tuxie was younger, he was a hotshot; he was an amazing hunter, with rapid speed. Whenever he played with a cat toy, he’d zip over and catch right away. I’m not letting him outside to roam now, but he has been enjoying the back porch. He and his brother Truffle are sleeping together now which is sweet.
