About this artwork
I am living in a former farm in the delta of the river. I am fascinated by ditches. Even as a child I found the water world fascinating: little fish, snails, leeches, mud, the tricky ditch sides, reeds, grass.
I developed a special technique to apply the oil paint. I use paper to print the paint on the canvas. It is a primitive printing technique. The many layers and directions create a strong emphasis on the materiality of the paint. I keep working… until the image evokes a mystical effect that I also feel at the place of inspiration.
