About this artwork
What do we do when we wait? Then we fluctuate between acceptance and resistance, hope and disillusionment. During the waiting time it seems as if nothing changes, no space or opening is created. No distribution can take place. Do you feel the urge while waiting?
It's winter time, the old doesn't work anymore and the new doesn't come from Davos. Everything that is on this earth yearns for change, but the expected transformation. But who still believes… in that? What we are experiencing is an ever-increasing mess. I think a better word for this is the German word Wirbel.
That's what I call the painting in the photo.
The picture started months ago as a spiral - two even. A left-turning and a right-turning spiral over each other. It became a hassle. I couldn't get out because I wasn't in it. Then you have to wait. And then something just drops up.
« Everything in the world revolves around connection. One thing leads to another, nothing is available separately. »
Henrie Vogel is an experienced artist based in the Netherlands whose paintings have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions nationally. Identifying with the New Materialism movement, his works center around the concept of connection. For Vogel, this connection is translated through an intuitive dialogue with the material. He most often creates with acrylics, oils, ink, and pigments on canvas.
