About this artwork
Here, too, as in many of my works, the difference between nature and culture comes into play: In the lower half we see two hibiscus flowers surrounded by green, which are arched over by an upside-down, stylized lotus flower, as we know it from the Indian world of gods. The scenery is enhanced by colored “dots”. These points have a certain signaling effect and are a popular stylistic device in advertising and other mass cultural designs.
The hibiscus… flower represents delicate, sensitive, yet impressive beauty.

Heribert Heere uses collage, paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolor), digital media, and photography; his artistic development was honed at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and shaped by art historical studies. With sophisticated stylistic pluralism, he combines old and new, representational and abstract, and the trivial with high culture in his works, allowing collage, painting, and montage to flow seamlessly into one another.
