About this artwork
2022 / Acrylic, latex and gouache on stretched canvas
This triptych explores the beauty of our background and mix of experiences and how they are part of our resilience and make us who we are. Each painting measures 30" x 40" ( 76.2 x 101.6 centimeters)
In this painting, I've sought to channel the vibrant dynamism of pop art with the intrigue of semi-abstraction. The use of acrylic, gouache, and latex has allowed for a blend of sharp contrasts… and soft fluency across the triptych. The bold colors pulse with energy, while depictions of faces hint at the complexity of human emotions. Expressive eyes and sweeping floral elements suggest a narrative of resilience and growth amidst the static of everyday life. This piece is meant to inspire contemplation and revitalization, bringing an energetic yet thoughtful presence to any space.
Note: The paintings are also available to be sold separately.
« I create colorful, warm and happy art- just like my homeland. My graphic-design and illustration background allowed me to diversify my style into Illustrative, geometric and expressionist themes. »
Ilaamen Pelshaw is a Guatemalan painter based in the United States whose work has been featured in solo and group shows nationally. Growing up with a grandfather who was an artist and muralist, Pelshaw became interested in art herself and developed a practice centered around positivity and warmth. Mostly working in acrylic on canvas, her work is always colorful and illustration based, whether through quirky animal portraits or paintings of Latin American culture and crafts.
