Works begin where time condenses and perception slows. They capture traces – traces of movement, memory, material, and resonance. Silence, transformation, fragment, and threshold do not exist separately, but simultaneously. From this emerge spaces that do not immediately reveal themselves to the eye.
At the heart of my work lies the question of presence. I am not interested in the depiction of a person or a motif, but rather in how presence arises, intensifies, and persists despite time, material, and transformation. Figurative moments therefore appear not as narrative or character, but as states of being. They assert nothing, they do not lead—they open perception.
Layering here doesn't create a formal effect, but rather a repository of time, trace, and change. The surface becomes a place where the past remains visible, overlaps, and simultaneously recedes. Fire, ash, fragment, and reduction...
