About this artwork
The groups of figures arise live from a dance movement of a dancing model. By following the movement, the figures merge into one another and thus become independent compositions of groups of figures. These show how several people emerge from one person, connect, struggle with one another or develop in different directions without breaking away from one another. of light and shadow, new thematic worlds are constantly emerging, which represent the search for light, for enlightenment. Without darkness the light cannot be perceived, without light no shadows. And sometimes we find ourselves in a tunnel and at the end we see the light.

Ilona Ottenbreit is a German painter, sculptor and draftsman who has exhibited extensively in both solo and group events in Germany and the United Kingdom. Her works examine rhythm and movement, as it is the 'cause of our lives'. Ottenbreit's sculptures portray groups of people in movement, representing a collective connection, or oneness. She begins her process by sketching and examining motion, following the dancer with lines and recording what she can intuitively grasp.
