About this artwork
The figure groups are created live from a dance movement by my Mosell. The figures merge into one another and thus become groups of figures, which show how several people emerge from one person, connect, wrestle with one another or develop in different directions without getting rid of one another. A transformation that reminds us of the origin of our being.

Ilona Ottenbreit is a German painter, sculptor and draftsman who has exhibited extensively in both solo and group events in Germany and the United Kingdom. Her works examine rhythm and movement, as it is the 'cause of our lives'. Ottenbreit's sculptures portray groups of people in movement, representing a collective connection, or oneness. She begins her process by sketching and examining motion, following the dancer with lines and recording what she can intuitively grasp.
