About this artwork
A dancer moves slowly as a model. The artist captures the movement with a line. This results in figure drawings whose dynamic reflects the movement of the dance. The most exciting moments are worked out with charcoal and ink and an idiosyncratic grouping of the figures is created.

« Art touches our soul and tries to grasp the truth. »
Ilona Ottenbreit is a German painter, sculptor and draftsman who has exhibited extensively in both solo and group events in Germany and the United Kingdom. Her works examine rhythm and movement, as it is the 'cause of our lives'. Ottenbreit's sculptures portray groups of people in movement, representing a collective connection, or oneness. She begins her process by sketching and examining motion, following the dancer with lines and recording what she can intuitively grasp.
