About this artwork
In this work, I combine intense colors, structured layers, and the motif of the spiral as an expression of inner transformation. "Exitus animae" represents transition and new beginnings and arises from an intuitive painting process.
The work has received international acclaim – including a placement in Florence and a special prize in Milan, which underlines the emotional and universal impact of my art.
Ilona Wohlmutter is a self-taught painter who works primarily with acrylics in mixed media on canvas, drawing inspiration from nature and inner processes. Her technique combines abstract expressionism, multi-layered paint, golden accents, and a play of order and chaos, often structured by the spiral as an archetypal motif. Her works reflect emotional transformation, hope, inner strength, and healing, inviting viewers to explore themselves and universal themes. Her artistic practice is rooted in personal experiences and manifests itself in a clear, intuitive visual language. She understands painting as a dialogue between soul and matter. Her works have been exhibited and awarded internationally.
