This painting was done in the studio from study painted en plein-air in the woods of Upstate New York. His deeply personal style incorporates unconventional compositions, vivid texture, gestural painting marks, emphasized color and other features of 21st century painting, along with a solid Academic foundation and use of the Old Master’s techniques. It is painted on finest linen with –highest grade paints and covered with UV-protective varnish.…

Ilya Lerner is an experienced American painter with international exposure. After four decades of experimenting with different techniques, today he primarily composes 'en plein air' paintings influenced by impressionism alongside works with a strong narrative line. His finished pieces appear technically precise and thematically uninhibited, with color combinations as diverse as the subjects they bring to life.
