About this artwork
During the devastating Australian bushfire season in 2019/2020 our 30 acres property got ravaged by the fire and my long standing art studio burnt to ashes. I have looked for inspiration from the experience of an unpredictable natural force and the burned out Australian landscape and produced a series of work: the " Drawing for fire from Hell ". Showing the forces in nature by only using the burnet out wood from our property - the bushfire charcoal…
on primed canvas - my compositions display silhouettes inspired by nature with windy shapes blown across the canvas in dark black and grays. There's a sense of anxiety and uncontrollablity in the work, just like the bushfire. All work was produced in location in the burned out bush. Each work are sealed with fixative at the end.

Imre Badonski is an experienced Hungarian painter based in Australia with national exposure. His work is deeply rooted in his Hungarian past, particularly his national identity that was heavily influenced by the 'Goulash Communism' of 1960s and 1970s Hungary. Contrasting this are the influences he gained whilst living in Paris, such as surrealism and freedom of the western world. His artistic signature is marked by gestural brush-strokes and the impression of spontaneity, leading overall to a body of work that appears at once powerfully organic and impressively intricate.
