Inger’s Bronze Sculpture, "Awake, Dear Heart" (a quote from The Tempest) was inspired by actor, Jordan Barbour, playing Mark Antony in Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2017 production of Julius Caesar. Multimedia artist, Inger Nova Jorgensen captured in bronze this powerful representation of the act of rising above the current climate of intolerance in America. This piece celebrates marginalized people's continued resilience and heart, as he 'rises… out of the mountains' as depicted. The first edition sits as a tribute in the lobby of the Angus Bowmer Theatre at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ashland, Oregon.
This torso is life size and can be indoor or outdoor. Optional patinas available.
Rooted in a legacy of familial artists, Inger Jorgensen crafts her thought-provoking pieces through bronze or resin sculptures, as well as oil and acrylic painting, often enriched by layers of venetian plasters. Her abstract and figurative works exude a tangible depth, her experimental techniques giving life to her themes. Jorgensen's art stirs introspection, provoking a profound exploration of humanity's evolving relationship with nature.
