In this drawing I worked with Indian ink to convey a semi-abstract mood. The dark silhouette of the animal stands strong against an enigmatic tangle of lines that appear like a net. This composition creates a mystical yet earthy atmosphere. The energy of the work speaks of inner strength and calm that it brings to any room.

Iris Vitzthum is an award-winning painter and draftsman based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Japan, China, and the United States. She describes her artistic process as originating from the observation of her surroundings. Searching for the substrate, Vitzthum says that she steals, destroys, lies, and exaggerates in her surreal compositions. She creates using acrylics, oils, pigments, and India ink on canvas.
