About this artwork
In my art I turn to semi-abstract formal language and use Indian ink to tell a story of contrast and harmony. The sweeping darkness of the ink on a delicate ground reflects the emotional depth I experienced while creating. This work is intended to inspire viewers and bring a powerful yet subtle energy to any home.

Iris Vitzthum is an award-winning painter and draftsman based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Japan, China, and the United States. She describes her artistic process as originating from the observation of her surroundings. Searching for the substrate, Vitzthum says that she steals, destroys, lies, and exaggerates in her surreal compositions. She creates using acrylics, oils, pigments, and India ink on canvas.
