About this artwork
The artist will tell you that it’s the layers and layers of our lives, our history that she thinks makes us most interesting - and that same evidence of history is what she hopes you’ll see in the layers of her paintings. Because of her process of sanding and scratching back into the paint to reveal history, Isabelle only works on birch wood panels. In this piece, “New Ideas” her graphic, rhythmic shapes seize our attention, while the super smooth… texture and embedded symbols invite close examination. Using acrylic paint, the background “Celadon green” is a color so beautiful that at one time in history, only royalty were allowed to see it, then found only on special ceramics, created by a thinly applied glaze that transformed iron oxide from ferric to ferrous iron as it fired in the kiln. Please note the edge detail in the additional photos - Isabelle is known for the way her abstract work contrasts with the beautiful, natural birch edges she leaves exposed.
« Beautiful art comes from inspiration. Inspiration comes from being present, from feeling alive. That's what art is for. »
A 'highly collectable' artist, Isabelle's work is in the homes and offices of private collectors in Canada, Europe, China, South America and across the United States. Besides Singulart, her work is represented by Sandstone Gallery (Laguna Beach, California), J Willott Gallery (Palm Desert, California), Peterson Contemporary Art (Bend, Oregon), and Libby Silvia Artstyle (Wellesley, Massachusetts).
