About this artwork
Mill Warehouse is a portrait of a rural industrial structure. It speaks to the beauty of vintage industrial architecture and machines. Elements of urban surface and pastoral nature are combined to express the simultaneity of the "man made" and "natural" experience of landscape. It can be produced on canvas by special order.

« Digital software is like playing jazz: it is the ultimate tool for improvisation. It allows me to deconstruct images into layers of light and color, line and shape, and reassemble them into imaginary worlds. »
Iskra Johnson is an American artist who looks to explore how emotion can intersect with architectural structure. Early exposure to solvents meant that she was unable to work in a traditional printmaking studio. However, with her continued love for the medium, Johnson’s digital works have gained a distinct hybrid quality that is often taken for silkscreen or lithography. In this multilayered practice, Johnson is able to explore the complex notions of nostalgia, loss, place and displacement that are entailed in our rapidly changing urban environment.
